losing shit

So while we were at the beach, my husband lost his Kindle Paperwhite.Yeah I know, something else to make that trip just amazing. eyeroll. I say he lost, he says I lost it, maybe it was Collin that lost it.. maybe it was stolen by housekeeping?{no, we keep the Do Not Disturb sign up so they don't come clean, we just ask for fresh towels- don't want them going through my stuff!}

We are both reading nerds and each have[well he had] a Paperwhite- mine in the purple leather case, his in navy leather case. We had all went out to the beach that morning [it was one of the rare sunshine days while there] and I had a beach bag with a couple towels, a cosmetic bag with my phone, room card and some cash for pool drinks, and a ziploc bag that I put our Kindles in so they wouldn't get wet/sandy.

I freakin' REMEMBER that after we came back inside and had lunch, Cailey & I were going to go back down to the pool and I took his Kindle out of the bag, even asked Cailey if it was daddy's since the dark purple and navy looked similar in bad lighting, then laid it on one of the beds so he would have it. 

Later that night we couldn't find it. He said he never took it off the bed. So therefore he thinks I never put it on the bed..... psssh. We turned that hotel room upside down looking for it, thinking maybe Collin ran off and stuck it in a drawer or under the couch, but we never found it. WTF. How does a Kindle grow legs and walk off? So frustrating. 

So I'm asking,

Vacation's Over Ya'll!

Every year I look forward to going to the beach. Something about the ocean breeze brings out all the happiness endorphins for all of us. Well --- not this year!

All piled up in bed.. we actually fit. I need a king bed at home.

As I said yesterday, our vacation started out in Charleston for my sister's destination wedding. I forgot to share that we did not make reservations... we knew we weren't going to pay $350 for one night at the hotel where the rest of my family was staying/where the wedding was [Charleston Resort & Marina .. beautiful but pricey.. too pricey for us when we still had another week of vacation elsewhere to pay for]. So I had found a nearby hotel that was only $100/night and had plenty of rooms available ... or so I thought. When we got their we were told they only had one room and it was just a king bed! We made it work though ...

After the wedding we went to Myrtle and stayed at Compass Cove. I'm very picky about my hotels because I can't stand to feel dirty. I need a nice, clean room. Compass Cove was decent, but not nearly as nice as Dunes Village, where we stayed last year.

Our first full day there, Sunday, was good weather. Mama got her tan on, kiddos played in the sand, all was well.

Then Monday was crappy rainy weather. Which sucked because it was also my Collin's 2nd birthday!!!

 
We made the most of it though and were able to play in the indoor pool during the day and that night went out to eat at his choice -- pizza! [big surprise there .. this kid loves pizza-just like his mama]. Then we went to the aquarium and paid $80 so he could cling to my shoulders and yell "ahh!". Nahh.. he liked it, I think.

Tuesday was the last good weather day. Tell me that shit don't suck. In the morning we all went out to the beach, then after coming inside for sandwiches for lunch, Cailey & I head out to the pool while the boys nap. It works perfectly. Cailey is at the age where I really don't have to keep an eye on her all the time so I can sit back with a drink and my kindle and get my tan on while she splashes around.

With a VooDoo bucket .. not that good IMO.

Wednesday it was cold & windy. But no rain .. so I seriously sat outside with Cailey and drank some Strawbeeritas while wrapped up in a towel. Hey, mama's gotta get crunk how she can.

Thursday & Friday were both crappy days as well. We did some more indoor swimming on Thursday but didn't even bother on Friday when that bitch named Andrea (the tropical storm) came through. The wind was ridiculous! You could hear it howling through the hallways and under the doorframe. I would hate to hear what it sounds like when a hurricane is coming through!!

 

And of course Saturday, the day we leave, it was super freaking gorgeous. Woke up to sunshine and looked at the weather and it was supposed to be 86 and beautiful all day long. Tried to add on one more night at our hotel so I could have just one more day of laying out in the breeze, but they were booked. *insert pouty face here*

 

So I guess it wasn't a horrible beach trip...  it was nice to be off work for several days. And spend time with my whiney family. ;) And anytime at the beach is better than no time, right??

I do have my fingers crossed for at least one more weekend getaway [with no tropical storms] before the summer is over .. I have a couple pregnant coworkers going out on back to back maternity leaves though so it might be impossible to get a Friday or Monday off.

Back from Vacation/Sister's Wedding!

So Friday the 31st we drove down to Charleston, SC. The next day, my little sister got married. It was gorgeous weather - perfect for a beach wedding. My sister is quite the dramatic queen but surprisingly enough, she was not a bridezilla! haha. Their wedding was originally set for July 20th here at a nearby church, but they found out he was going to be deployed sometime in June so they (and the mothers) rushed to throw together this wedding in a month.
Tracie Lee Photography took some amazing pictures. They haven't gotten them all back yet of course, but I highly recommend if you are in the area!

I was the matron of honor and Cailey was the flower girl.
Collin and Lee only got to sit down for about 2 minute before Lee had to get up with Collin and walk him around. I could hear him yelling everyone's name.. he doesn't know how to be quiet! "Mama! Dylan! Papa!" lol 

After the reception we then drove to Myrtle (why does it take nearly 2 hours to go 50 miles? :-\) for our week long family vacation. It was pretty crappy thanks to that bitch named Tropical Storm Andrea. Eh, I'll do a vacation recap tomorrow :-p

Well I suck at this blogging thing ..

Just realized I haven't written anything in 2 weeks. Ehh .. I suck :-\ I'm just going to throw out some randomness ...

I've been doing a lot of nothingness. I seriously watched all 2 seasons of Scandal in a 48 hour time frame. I cracked out on that shit. I normally don't like the political drama .. but this was like a political thriller and it works. :)

I've also been NOT so go good on eating well and exercising. Which really sucks for me since I leave for the beach in a couple days. I always jeopardize myself this close to a goal. Hopefully after vacation I can get back on track and re-find my motivation ...

And for the past week I've been sick. Blah. I had a cold last week and pretty sure that it's now a full blown sinus infection. Can't breathe, coughing, can't talk. It's great. Monday a certain little boy named Spiderman helped Mommy go to the store for meds. ------> The lady at the register looked at us like she really thought a 2 year old was gonna rob her. Psh.

Mom Confession: I slept for 12 straight hours last night. This morning when the kids woke up I let Cailey handle Collin so I could sleep for a couple more hours til NerdyHubs got home from working 3rd.

She had to buy a new dress for awards day :-p

Reason #953728 why Cailey is so awesome. Last week was her last day of 2nd grade and I had a parent/teacher conference where her teacher told me how super smart she is [duh, she is her mother's daughter!] but seriously.. I was so proud. She is above grade level on most everything, and way off the charts on reading. Homegirl was reading 700 page books this year (granted they were Harry Potter -cringe!). At least she gets her love of reading honestly!

So smart .. Got the Principal's Award for Outstanding Student for her class!!!

I am normally a strict wine only drinker. I have always HATED beer. I've been seeing a lot of advertising for Bud Light Lime's Straw-Ber-Rita so I decided to give it a shot. OMG I'm in love.

I had only bought one (huge 24 oz) and after drinking it decided I needed more. Thankfully we have a gas station right at the end of our road so I got another strawberry one and a lime one. I drank the lime one and it was good too but the strawberry is my fave. After finishing those 2 I had an amazing buzz. I popped the top on my 3rd and drank a few sips and realized that I better stop before I cross into vomitville. Instead I just went to bed.

We are leaving for Charleston Friday morning. My little sister is getting married Saturday morning to her army fiance before he gets deployed in late June to Africa. After their wedding the NerdyHubs, kids and I are going to Myrtle for a week. So many people say they hate Myrtle, but for us, it works. We love it. I'm so excited to lay by the pool with my kindle and work on my tan while sipping a fruity cocktail. Heck, I might buy a case of Straw-Ber-Rita's so I don't have to shell out $8/drink at the pool bar. Although who am I kidding .. Collin is probably not going to allow me to do anything. Cailey can entertain herself... hmmm.. I'm thinking leaving Collin & Lee in the hotel room during nap time is a great idea ! O:-)
